The Skin Game investigates skin as both a medium and as a means of communication. As the mediator between one's self and the rest of the world, skin acts as an ambiguous spatial boundary that is often fraught with tensions. The tensions, which range from the political, the socio-cultural and the psycho-sexual, are played out in and on the body and are expressed through a variety of materials and styles. The exhibition presents skin as a permeable and shifting text that is defined and redefined by our changing cultural climate.
