Rent our Space

Consider the Location:
Situated on the waterfront in the vibrant neighborhood of Dumbo, Smack Mellon offers a truly unique venue for weddings, pop-ups, private parties, photo and film shoots, and corporate events. The building is across the street from the picturesque Brooklyn Bridge Park between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges with breathtaking views of the City skyline.

Consider the Dramatic Architecture:
Located in the recently renovated “Boiler Building”, Smack Mellon’s gallery is an especially exciting space with tremendous architectural elements. The main 3,000 square-foot gallery boasts a ceiling that soars to 35 feet, featuring 25 windows on two levels providing beautiful light and a spectacular view of Manhattan and the East River.

Consider the Convenience:
Smack Mellon is just one subway stop from Manhattan with easy access to the BQE, Manhattan & Brooklyn Bridges and ample parking in nearby garages. The building is handicap accessible.

Contact

To inquire about rates, dates, or make an appointment for a walk-through of the space, please email or call (718) 834-8761.

To view the space, you are welcome to drop by during public gallery hours (Wednesday-Sunday, 12-6PM).  If there is no exhibition on view, the gallery will be closed to the public. Please visit our Exhibitions page for more information.  The gallery is always closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Rental Information

Smack Mellon’s galleries can accommodate seated dinners for up to 175 and cocktail-style standing receptions for up to 200, yet they are intimate enough for smaller parties.

The rental of Smack Mellon includes the raw space only, and we do not provide any rental equipment or catering services. Clients can fully customize their event within our space, choosing to either work with our favorite vendors below or others, subject to approval.

The rental fee is for the 12-hour minimum period. The space includes dimming overhead lights and a separate prep area with an electric stove, sink and refrigerator.

We do not make soft holds for dates. To officially reserve a date, we require a signed contract and payment of the membership fee and rental fee. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. Payments may be made by check, wire, or credit card.

Since we are primarily an art gallery, we only rent in between our exhibitions. To rent Smack Mellon’s space for a private event, you must join as a member. The rates above reflect the cost of a membership plus the venue rental fee. Please visit our membership page for more information about additional membership benefits.
