A Remedy for Constitutional Crisis: Part 2

To coincide with Smack Mellon’s current exhibition, Bound up Together: On the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, join exhibiting artist Maya Ciarrocchi for Part 2 of A Remedy for Constitutional Crisis, a participatory reexamination of the U.S. Constitution. On Saturday, October 17th, 2–6 PM, Ciarrocchi will organize a public performance reading of the U.S. Constitution. In anticipation of the 2020 presidential election, participants are invited to assemble outside Smack Mellon to read from the Constitution in various languages, hold discussions, and write  amendments that imagine a more meaningful and accessible constitution for all.

Maya Ciarrocchi is a New York-based interdisciplinary artist working across media in drawing, printmaking, performance, video, installation, and social practice. Through personal narrative, storytelling, and mapmaking, her projects unearth disappeared histories and document manifestations of loss.
