Matthew Li (b. 1999) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the emotional and architectural infrastructures of a globalized modern life – particularly the spaces we call home, the systems that connect us, and the memories embedded in public and domestic environments. Through installations, video, proposals, sculptures, and mixed media, Li draws from personal narratives and overlooked urban histories – like those found in public transit or apartment buildings – to reimagine how we might coexist and relate to one another.

Li earned his BFA from The Cooper Union in 2022 and his MFA from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College in 2024. His solo exhibitions Memory Impressions (2020) and Life In Between (2022) were presented at The Cooper Union. He was featured in Surprise!, a group exhibition co-curated by Tomashi Jackson at Tilton Gallery (2022), and most recently in Off-Site, a 2024 group show at Time Space Limited. 

In addition to institutional spaces, Li has also shown in friends’ apartments and public spaces and plans to host a video installation in his apartment in late 2025 – continuing his ongoing practice of challenging conventional modes of spectatorship and art presentation.
