Beyonce is a multimedia artist bridging the gap between pop culture and the art world. Her work includes paintings, sculptures, clothing, toys, puppetry, poetry, digital media, and film. Growing up in Bedstuy, Brooklyn taught her to value found materials and take inspiration from everyday subject matter. Overlooked urban landscapes such as a familiar street corner or the symphony of a barbershop conversation are a couple examples of moments that inspire her work. Her approach to genre art intends to shock audiences with authenticity and accessibility. By shining light on the reality of everyday life, her work holds a mirror up to society and represents social culture that is often ignored or disregarded. 

Her work introduces a reevaluation of the ordinary by challenging us to reconsider which elements of daily life deserve romanticization. Likewise, her work inspires commentary on how we might transform the ordinary for the better. She immortalizes these scenes through found material such as cardboard, wood, fabric, foam and wire. Being from a low income community taught her to see financial limitations as a blessing rather than a barrier. She firmly believes that ambitious work derives from diligent studio practices and nontraditional applications. She is interested in learning various forms of art to understand different means of expression. In this way, all work stems from a passion to learn, drive for innovation, and devotion to entertain.
