Allison Kaufman

Allison Kaufman’s videos, photographs, and installations investigate societal performances, addressing issues of gender, aspiration, vulnerability, and consumerism. Based in Brooklyn, Kaufman received her BFA from Tisch School of the Arts and her MFA from the School of Visual Arts. Her solo exhibition, Limited Time Offer,was on view at Trestle Projects in Brooklyn in 2018, where she was recently a Visiting Resident Artist. Solo exhibitions of her work have taken place at HERE Arts Center in NYC, Real Art Ways in Hartford CT, and Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Group exhibitions include EFA Project Space, Hendershot Gallery, Moore College of Art and Design, Albright College, and the Wassaic Project, among others. Kaufman is the recipient of the Paula Rhodes Memorial Award and an Alumni Scholarship Award from the School of Visual Arts, has been an artist-in-residence at Yaddo, CATWALK, the Center for Emerging Visual Artists, the Saltonstall Foundation, and Penland School of Crafts. Her work has been reviewed in the Huffington Post, the L Magazine, the Pittsburgh-Tribune Review, and Bomb Magazine’s BOMBlog. Kaufman teaches at a variety of institutions including Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.
