Aparna Sarkar

Aparna Sarkar is an oil painter living in Brooklyn. She holds an MFA in Painting from RISD and a BA in Mathematics from Pomona College. Recent shows include a solo presentation at Deanna Evans Projects, and two-person shows at Stowaway Gallery in LA and My Pet Ram Gallery in New York. Her work has been featured in the Brooklyn Rail, Art Maze Magazine, VAST Art Magazine, and more. Aparna has attended residencies with Caldera Arts Center, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, MASS MoCA, the Jentel Foundation, and Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, among others. Her studio practice also encompasses drawing, printmaking, and ceramics. She is part of leadership at the collectively run Manhattan gallery, Below Grand, and currently teaches in the Art department at Williams College.
